When do you accept applications for hospitality internships and culinary externships?
We accept applications year round for all of our hospitality internships including culinary arts, pastry arts, catering management and F&B Management and Hotel Operations Management.
Is housing offered to externs, what kind of accommodations can I expect, and what is the cost of housing?
Housing is an option for all of our interns and externs. The apartments are centrally located and close to all of the culture that Asheville has to offer. Each apartment has two bedrooms and one bathroom, which are shared between three people. The cost for housing is $85.00 a week. This covers rent, electricity, phone, water and is automatically deducted from your weekly paycheck. The apartments have free washer/dryer service, outdoor pool, and fitness center.
If I am a post-grad student, is there a possibility of employment after my internship?
Yes, we do offer full time employment to many of our interns and externs based on availability and performance after completion of the internship. Upon accepting a fulltime position, your wages and benefits would generally increase.
Are the Hospitality internships paid internships?
Yes, we do offer compensation for all of our hospitality and culinary interns.
How many hours a week will I be working?
All externs and interns receive full time weekly hours (32–40hrs). Many seasons of the year also have overtime hours available.
How often will I receive a paycheck?
Hourly associates are paid on a weekly basis.
Which restaurants will I be working in as an intern or extern?
Each extern will participate in a rotation of each of our four restaurants. This rotation is the most important part of our program, because it allows you to gain experience in a variety of kitchens with guidance from our professional culinary and/or management teams. We are also able to offer customized rotations for concentrated experiences if requested and discussed during interview and application process.
