Leadership Culture
Introduce participants to the roles and responsibilities that accompany promotion to management, while exploring Biltmore's culture and the mindset and expectations for managers in the organization.
Employment & Personnel Law
Acquaint managers with various laws governing the pre-employment process and relationships once a candidate becomes an employee. Legal issues in the areas of staffing and general personnel laws are covered.
Communication Techniques
Evaluate and apply given techniques to maximize effectiveness in leadership roles and to support organizational success through improved interpersonal communication. Leading through change, listening, verbal and non-verbal communication, and communicating with various communication styles are also covered.
Performance Management
Understand the basics of a solid performance management system, and to introduce Biltmore's Performance Management System (processes and guidelines), which may be adapted for use in other organizations.
Mechanics of the Leader's Job
Introduce managers to information regarding development and implementation of departmental OJT programs; utilization of metrics in forecasting and scheduling; problem-solving techniques that may be used in handling day-to-day operational responsibilities, which may be adapted for use in other organizations.
Coaching, Counseling, & Discipline
Introduce management level staff to methods for correcting and improving staff performance, eliminating problem behaviors, and resolving conflicts in the workplace; and review Biltmore's Coaching, Counseling, & Disciplinary processes, for ideas which may be adapted for use in other organizations.
Time Management & Life Balance
Introduce management level staff to techniques for evaluating workflow, prioritizing tasks, delegating, and eliminating distractions to manage time, priorities, and projects most effectively, which may be adapted for use in any organization.
Biltmore's Strategic Planning Basics
Introduce management level staff to Biltmore's standardized template (which may be adapted for use in any organization) for accurately developing department or division strategic plans and understand how to use the plan to calculate associated departmental or division budgets annually.
Biltmore's Budgeting Basics
Introduce managers to basics of finance and budgeting that may be applied to various organizations. Topics include: an introduction to P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements; capital vs. expense review; revenue and expense budgeting strategies, such as how to budget, alignment with strategic plans, performance metrics, and budget schedules.
Supervisory Training - Biltmore's Supervisory Series
Biltmore's Supervisory Basics
Introduce participants to the knowledge and skills required of entry-level supervisors, while exploring the "culture" and the mindset and expectations for supervisors within the organization. This module also explores areas for personal growth and development, and the creation of an action plan for meeting development goals.
Managing for High Performance
Introduce supervisory-level participants to basic principles of performance management at the supervisory level, including "how to's" for: setting clear expectations and goals; providing feedback; individual and group recognition; addressing performance issues; and creating self-improvement plans.
Proactive Communication
Introduce supervisory-level participants to basic principles of communicating with peers, bosses, and subordinates, particularly in one-on-one and group/team communication situations. Topics addressed also include verbal and non-verbal communication, managing upward, and delegation.
Coaching for Excellence
Introduce supervisory-level participants to basic principles of formal and informal coaching. Participants will also identify best and worst coaching practices, formal vs. informal coaching situations, and the use of coaching to correct performance issues and to encourage continued improvement.
Managing Change
Introduce supervisory-level participants to strategies for effectively managing change organizational change. Participants will define "change," explore the change cycle, and explore methods for implementing solid communication, building trust, and finding personal and professional balance during times of change.
