Here are some of their suggestions on how to make your mantel a focal point for the season and a welcoming gathering place for guests:
- Don't over decorate. Create balance and symmetry in the design with a handful of beautiful items.
- Give the mantel a fresh look for the holidays.
- Drape evergreen garlands or gilded foliage across the mantel.
- Create contrast with red and gold ornaments, adding pinecones for texture.
- Dress up clear glass vases with unique items such as cranberries, fresh red tulips, and green hypericum (St.Johnswort).
- For a non-traditional look, try white and silver balls with white tulips and silver painted twigs. Change the garland to strands of silver beads and accent with one or two crystal candle holders, white or silver pillar candles, and large blue ornaments or stars.
